Went to visit another friend and see his car for the upcoming demo derby. There was also another car from last year in the yard coming to the derby again this year.

So, you think you know your cars now, do you? Well, consider this to be a test of your knowledge of Pontiac history. 21 Pontiacs are featured here: some are current models while others are truly classic in every sense of the word, dating back to the early 1960s.

6000 – Full sized [or almost] front wheel drive sedan of the 1980s.

Aztec – Ugly is as ugly does. This crossover vehicle ashamed the Pontiac fleet for two years during the early 00s.

Bonneville – Full sized Pontiac sedan excitement retired in 2005 after more than 40 years of service. Part of GM’s massive restructuring and retiring of top model names.

Catalina – This model hearkens back to the mid 60s when two door hard tops ruled the day. Discontinued during the late 70s during GM’s “down sizing” shell game days.

Fiero – Mid-engine sport two-seater built for Pontiac during the go-go 80s. GM reached into their parts bin and took out Chevette and other components to create this little roadster.

Firebird – It goes without saying that this “pony” car is sorely missed. The good news is that it may be back by the time the 2009 model year rolls around.

Firefly – Twin to the Geo Metro, the Firefly was Pontiac’s 3 cylinder captive import of the late eighties to mid nineties.

G6 – Current compact model in Pontiac’s arsenal available in rakish coupe or sporty sedan.

Grand Am — With its 1973 debut, the Grand Am quickly became the division’s mid-range performance car. Retired in 2005 with a host of other Pontiac model names.

Grand Prix – Hidden tail lights and a concave rear window marked the Grand Prix’s 1963 debut. The car has survived GM’s model name shake out and today’s car is a mid-sized, front wheel drive sports sedan.

GTO – Introduced in 1967, the GTO was a true coupe turned sports car. Eliminated in the 1970s, the GTO is back thanks to GM’s Australian division, Holden. Rear wheel drive and a big V8 too.

LeMans – Originally a Tempest model, the LeMans became its own model once the Tempest name was retired in the 1970s. Retired in the mid 1990s after a cheap Korean car was allowed to carry its name. Sheesh!

Montana — A minivan for Pontiac, if not for the ages.

Parisienne – During the 1980s Pontiac needed a version of the Chevrolet Caprice. This full sized, rear wheel drive sedan filled the bill.

Phoenix – Part of GM’s “X cars” of compact import fighting vehicles introduced during 1979 as a 1980 model.

Sunbird – Nothing but a rebadged Chevy Cavalier.

Sunfire – Compact coupe retired in 2005 as part of, you guessed, GM’s model restructuring.

Sunrunner – Nothing but a rebadged Geo/Chevy Tracker.

Tempest – From the early sixties until the early seventies, the term “muscle car” befit this hot coupe. Especially nice as a convertible!

Trans Sport – Hideous looking minivan that debuted in the early 1990s. Mercifully replaced years later by the Montana.

Vibe – A currently produced compact five door sport wagon; cousin to the Toyota Matrix.

So, there you have it. At least another half dozen models were left out from this time period plus many models that dated back to the division’s founding as part of the Oakland Automobile Company in 1926. Pontiac excitement…have you caught it yet?

If you are a true car aficionado, you must surely appreciate cars built in days long gone. The classic cars that were built a few decades ago, have a certain style that modern day cars do not. Don’t get me wrong… I don’t mean that I don’t like modern day cars. I enjoy both new as well as old cars. In their own way, they both have beauty. I don’t have the financial means to support a large collector car collection of my own, which is too bad. Also, I would’t have storage space for them. But I can still look at other people’s automobiles at antique car shows.

If you have never visited a vintage car show yourself, you should give one a try sometime. Auto shows are being organized all the time in larger cities near you. Your local newspaper is a good source to check for any automobile exhibitions. Somebody even organized a car show on a school yard close to my home at one time. There was no other space to display the vehicles. A lack of display space isn’t going to stop the true car lovers amongst us. I’ll gladly travel a greater distance if no car shows are held in my my own area.

You can get lots of information about auto displays on the Internet. Upfront, you want to figure out when they are held and where, ofcourse. Ofcourse, you also want to know what kind of cars will be on display. You may decide to skip this particular display, if the cars shown are not to your liking. Not every car show will have an entrance fee, so figure out if yours does. In case you have to pay entrance, learn how high the price is and how long you get to visit. You’ll have the most value for money when you leave early so you can stay longer.

Check an automotive magazine to see if they are advertising any classic car displays near you. At least some of the advertisements in car magazines are bound to be about organized shows in the near future. But even the magazines don’t always show you everything there is to do in your near vicinity. Asking collector automobile owners for information on the next auto display, is also a good way of learning more. There’s nothing these auto lovers don’t know about classic car related stuff. The more collectibles he has, the better your chances are of him being able to tell you all about upcoming shows!

1. Every auto owner should have a jack and jack stands. When working on a car, more often than not, the car must be elevated. Simple procedures like rotating tires can be done at home with the help of a Jack. Additionally, all car owners should have a jack in their car with them wherever they go. In the unfortunate event of a flat tire, having a jack and a spare tire can lead to a simple tire replacement. In a garage, having a powerful jack and strong jack stands makes it possible for an auto owner to reach every point underneath the car and thus solve problems more efficiently.

2. One of the most important car maintenance practices is the oil change. To maintain an automobile, the oil should be changed once every 3,000 miles. Quintessential to a successful oil change is having an Oil Wrench that takes the oil filter off and allows the oil to be changed expediently. Without an oil wrench, an auto owner may be forced to take their car to an auto shop and overpay for a simple oil change.

3. Often when dealing with parts of the engine, or the hard-to-reach spots under the hood, proper tools are required. A 3/8-inch Socket Set can allow an automobile owner to loosen and subsequently tighten a wide variety of bolts. Different extensions allow the auto owner to obtain the best angles for torque and therefore make auto jobs quite a bit easier.

4. When changing oil, having a funnel, some rags, and a bucket is very helpful. Once again, the oil change is one of the most important maintenances for a car, and it can be done easily by anyone. However, many people do not have the proper tools or knowledge for a successful oil change. Having a funnel can also be useful when refilling any other fluids in one’s car. The funnel serves to make sure that fluids do not get over filled, which can lead to significant problems.

5. Finally, every auto owner should have a pair of solid vice grips. Some times a part will just not come loose. Other times, a car part may not seem to be tight enough despite one’s best efforts. Vice grips can hold a wide variety of car parts and allow the user to obtain more leverage for either tightening or loosening a part. When encountering a part that will simply not come loose, many auto owners will give up and take their car to a shop. As we wait for Comic Con 2009 and the inevitable 24/7 year round promotion that R/K will have to treck for New Moon, I wanted to end the Twilight promotion off with a last hurrah. As many of you know, my video of “When you love someone” got deleted which inevitably forced me to create this new account. Having that deleted pissed me off, so I made this new one, where I have included the Empire Photoshoot and the all important, all epic, the R/K-fiesta known as the Vanity Fair photoshoot. I have chosen to disinclude their apperance to Much Music b/c 1: the clip quality is prety much all LQ and 2: I couldn’t stand watching R/K squirm from screaming fans which were mere 5 feet away from them. BTW, I’m Canadian, so it’s nothing against Canadians, but ctitically speaking, MuchMusic really needs a more controlled environment when it comes to showcasing young talent. This summer starts with a wealthy shine. The American Economy started shining from more than a year long “Cold” days. The cold was bitter; it has made many American’s life hard. The slow down, bad debt, credit crunch, down sizing, job loss, bankruptcies hit Americans of every level, major share holders to small level consumer. But now average Joe can get his smile back! In the recent past it is obvious that there has been a dip in the automobile sales but, even in this credit crisis of 2008 it is the Banks and the credit unions that have got some relatively good business comparing others.

Auto relief Group’s Jeffrey Taylor says “bank and the credit unions got their shares of outstanding loans increased comparing the independent finance companies. There is two possibilities for this, one could be the independent finance companies fear that the probability that the money lost through default will be too expensive than a loss of business. The second chance could be the over all drop resulting in frozen credit market and hence banks might be safe for both consumer and the dealer. Also banks & credit unions had (have) better liquidity than other lenders.

“Banks increased their portfolio of $236 billion or 2.7% for outstanding automobile loan, at the same time credit unions have increased to $149 billion or 1.2% for the same“, informs Jeffrey. Recent record also shows that Chase Finance holds the top slot sending Toyota down followed by Wachovia, sending Honda & GM to lower spot.

Jeffrey informs that both these lenders (banks\unions and dealers) they give prime importance to the credit history of the customers, and it is very important to take care of it and is always advisable to consult an expert if any one suspects their credit score is low.

DENVER AUTO Show is in full swing. More trucks, cars, RVs, automakers and customer cars will definitely attract you to the auto show. It can be termed as one of the best shows in years.The Denver Auto Show will take place at the Colorado Convention Center. The Colorado Convention Center is less than a mile walk from the newly renovated Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. The Sheraton Denver offers great accommodations and rates for people visiting Denver for the 2010 Auto Show.

The automobiles list includes GM’s GMC HD pickup truck. This vehicle has been used in the films. It has a split-window concept and the nifty display that shows the chassis comparison between this year and last year.

Nissan is in the market again with two Lamborghinis. Ford, on the other hand, with its 2011 Mustangs with 305 horsepower V6, 5.0 monster and is also displaying Ford F-150 Raptor. Dodge has come with its best seller R/T and Dodge Journey, that has live mobile TV system available, has also made room for itself in the show. Automakers like Lotus, Aston Martin, Ferrari have come with their super-cool race cars.

What you can’t miss on is Buick LaCrosse AWD, Dodge Ram 3500, Volvo XC60, Ford Fusion Hybrid, because these are the winner cars for this year under different Rocky Mountain Automotive Press Outstanding categories.
The auto show that started on April 7 will run till April 11. The tickets are available at the price of $ 10 for the Adults, $ 5 for children (7-12 years) whereas children under 6 can enter the show for free.

A number of games and other interactive activities are also available at the 2010 Denver Auto Show.There will also be “Tricked Out Rides” on display, as well as, other vendors from Share the Road and even a RV feature.
