Also, young Manchester student Vernon Kerswell hopes the sky’s the limit with his extreme remote-controlled microhelicopters.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is a cruise of classic cars, up Woodward Ave., that takes place each year on the 3rd Saturday of August and brings people from all over the world. People just gather on the side of the road to watch the cars pass by. Here’s nathan48310 and I riding in the middle of it. Everything goes well, until traffic starts to back up as expected, and it basically turns into a parking lot. But, at least we got a nice view in front of us while we were stuck. “Low Rider” is a song written by the band War and appearing on their 1975 album “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”. It reached number one on the Billboard R&B charts and peaked at number seven on the Pop Singles chart. According to the Allmusic review of the song, “the lyric takes the cool image of the lowrider — the Chicano culture practice of hydraulically hot-rodding classic cars — and using innuendo, extends the image to a lifestyle.” War, originally called Eric Burdon and War and often typeset as WAR, is an American funk band from California. Formed in 1969, War was a musical crossover band which fused elements of rock, funk, jazz, Latin music, rhythm and blues, and reggae. The band also transcended racial and cultural barriers with a multi-ethnic line-up. The band has sold over 50 million records to date. Although War’s lyrics are often socio-political in nature, their music usually had a laid-back, California funk vibe. A particular feature of War’s sound is the use of harmonica and saxophone playing melody lines in unison, sounding like a single instrument, for example in the melody of “Low Rider”. Their music has been sampled and recorded by many singers and groups, ranging from R&B/pop singers such as Janet Jackson to nu metal band Korn and hip-hop groups like TLC. A parade of classic funeral coaches using pictures of my own hearse, as well as several from the internet. This video is dedicated in memory of John R. Keel of Laport, Michigan who died on Dec. 25, 2002 at the age of 18yrs. I never had the privilage of meeting him, but think he would have enjoyed this video, and rattling off the year, make, and builder of every car in an instant. He was truly the boy who loved hearses.
